ClearReel Privacy Policy
ClearReel is a screen recorder by ClearVoid Studios. It is free to try, with an optional one-time unlock through Google Play for editing and overlays. There are no ads and no subscriptions. Recordings and screenshots stay on your device.
Data we process
- Screen recordings, screenshots, and edited exports you create stay on your device. We do not require an ClearVoid Studios account.
- ClearReel does not upload your media to ClearVoid Studios servers. There is no ClearReel cloud backup.
- Microphone and (on supported Android versions) internal audio may be captured into a recording when you enable those options. That audio stays in the recording file on your device.
- Optional face cam (after unlock) uses the device camera for a small overlay while recording. Capture stays on your device; ClearVoid Studios does not receive it.
- Share opens the Android share sheet (or apps you choose) from your device. We do not receive what you share.
- Cast can play a finished recording to a Chromecast or similar receiver on your local Wi‑Fi. For that session, your phone serves the file on the local network. ClearVoid Studios does not relay or store the cast stream.
- Purchase / restore uses Google Play Billing. Play processes the transaction under Google’s policies.
- Settings may show the app version on your device only. That information is not sent to ClearVoid Studios automatically.
Permissions and services
- Screen capture — required to record the screen or (on newer Android versions) a single app, and for screenshots from the recording control.
- Microphone — optional, for audio in recordings.
- Notifications — used while a recording runs so the service stays visible.
- Display over other apps — optional floating controls and unlock overlays (draw, face cam).
- Camera — optional, only for face cam after unlock.
- Local network / Wi‑Fi — used so Cast can find a receiver and serve the finished file on your LAN.
- Google Cast / Play services — used for Cast device discovery and playback to a receiver you choose.
Your content
You are responsible for what you record, edit, share, or cast — including respecting other people’s rights and any laws that apply where you use the App.
