ClearTotal Privacy Policy
ClearTotal is a grocery running-total app from ClearVoid Studios. ClearTotal is totally free: every feature is included, with no paid unlock, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no ads. Your carts, receipts, and grocery list stay on your device.
Data we process
- Cart items, receipts, store names, your grocery list, and your settings (sales tax, whether prices include tax, and currency) are stored on your device only. Your app language is chosen in Android settings and handled by Android. We do not require an account.
- ClearTotal does not upload your data to ClearVoid Studios servers. There is no ClearTotal cloud, and ClearVoid Studios does not receive your shopping data.
- Price-tag scans — when you scan a shelf tag, the camera frame is read in memory by on-device text recognition to find the item name and price. The photo is not saved to your device or gallery, and the image and recognized text are not sent to ClearVoid Studios.
- Settings → About may open links you choose (support email, clearvoidstudios.com, Privacy, Terms, or our Facebook page) in another app or browser on your device. The App shows version and build number on your device only; that information is not sent to ClearVoid Studios automatically.
- Android backup — if you have Android backup turned on, Android may include ClearTotal’s on-device data in your device backup to your Google account, under Google’s terms. ClearVoid Studios cannot access those backups. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling removes the data from the phone.
- Deleting your data — Settings → Reset all data permanently deletes your cart, receipts, grocery list, and settings from the phone. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage does the same.
Permissions and services
- No purchases, no ads, no analytics — ClearTotal does not include Google Play Billing, advertising SDKs, or analytics SDKs. Because nothing is sold in the app, it never handles payment or purchase information.
- Camera — used only while you are on the scan screen to read price tags. You can deny it and add items by hand instead.
- Internet / network state — ClearTotal itself does not send your data anywhere. These permissions are included by Google’s ML Kit library (see below).
- Google ML Kit diagnostics — Google’s ML Kit on-device text recognition may send Google limited diagnostic and usage data, such as device model, Android version, app version, performance metrics, error codes, and a per-installation identifier. This never includes your camera images, recognized text, or shopping data. ClearVoid Studios does not receive this data. See Google’s ML Kit data disclosure.
- Japanese and Korean text recognition — if your currency is yen or won, or the app language is Japanese or Korean, ClearTotal uses ML Kit’s Japanese or Korean model. Google Play services downloads that model to your device the first time it is needed. Recognition still happens on the device; your images and recognized text are not uploaded.
Children
ClearTotal is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
