SplitClear Privacy Policy
SplitClear is a bill and tip splitting app by ClearVoid Studios. Every feature is free, and the App is supported by ads. An optional one-time purchase through Google Play removes the ads. There are no subscriptions.
Data we process
- Bill and tip calculations stay on your device. We do not require an account.
- Saved split history is stored on your device. That may include amounts, tip/tax settings, party size, currency, timestamps, names you give each split, and any purpose (personal or business), document type (for example restaurant bill, receipt, invoice, or other), notes, and trip tags you enter. You can edit entries or clear history from Settings. ClearVoid Studios does not receive this history.
- If you email or share one or more splits, SplitClear opens an app installed on your device and fills in a draft (subject and body, including any purpose, type, note, or trip tag you saved). We do not send email or messages, do not operate a mail server, and do not receive or store the message, recipients, or contents of what you send.
- To show options such as Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo Mail, the App may check which email apps are installed on your device. That check stays on your device; package names are not uploaded to ClearVoid Studios.
- If you use Share in Settings (“Tell your friends!”), the App may check whether Facebook, Instagram, or X are installed so it can offer those buttons. That check stays on your device. When you tap a network, the App opens that app with a prefilled message (including a Google Play link). We do not post on your behalf and do not receive what you send or publish.
- Find us on Facebook (Settings) opens ClearVoid Studios’ public Facebook page in your browser or the Facebook app. We do not receive your Facebook account data through that link.
- Receipt photos (if you use Scan) are processed on your device to suggest a total. Photos are not uploaded to ClearVoid Studios or SplitClear servers.
- Google ML Kit diagnostics — Scan uses Google’s on-device ML Kit text recognition. ML Kit may send Google limited diagnostic and usage data, such as device model, Android version, app version, performance metrics, error codes, and a per-installation identifier. This never includes your receipt photos, recognized text, or bill amounts. ClearVoid Studios does not receive this data. See Google’s ML Kit data disclosure.
- No Android cloud backup. SplitClear opts out of Android backup and device-to-device transfer, so your split history and settings are not copied to Google Drive or a new phone by the system. Use Email or Send bill to keep your own copies. Your Remove ads purchase can be restored on a new phone with Restore purchases.
- Exchange rates (if you refresh conversion rates) are fetched from a public FX API and cached on your device. That request does not include your bill amounts or history.
- Settings → About shows the app version and build number on your device only (for support). That information is not sent to ClearVoid Studios automatically.
- Ads (Google AdMob) — unless you buy Remove ads, SplitClear shows ads served by Google AdMob. To serve, measure, and limit ads and to prevent fraud, Google’s Mobile Ads SDK collects information such as your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and how you interact with ads. Google may use this for personalized ads where the law and your choices allow. Where consent is required (for example in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and some US states), SplitClear asks before showing ads using Google’s consent tool, and you can change your choice anytime in Settings → Privacy choices. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings. Your bills, splits, receipt photos, names, and history are never shared with ad providers, and ClearVoid Studios does not receive the information the ads SDK collects. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- SplitClear does not need the internet for splitting, tips, tax, or history. Ads need a connection; offline, the App works without them.
- Purchases / Remove ads — if you buy Remove ads, Google Play (or another authorized storefront) handles payment. Play may process purchase tokens so the App can confirm and restore your purchase, and the App stores a local flag on your device so ads stay off. ClearVoid Studios does not receive your full payment card details.
Permissions
- Camera / photos — only to capture or choose a receipt for on-device scanning.
- Internet and network state — to load ads, refresh cached currency exchange rates, open support/legal/website/Facebook links, and complete Google Play purchases or restores. Opening your email or share apps does not send your history to ClearVoid Studios.
- Advertising ID — used by the ads SDK as described above. It is not used after you buy Remove ads.
Children
SplitClear is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
